Large quantity of drugs seized in Uruzgan
TIRINKOT (PAN): Hundreds of kilograms of narcotics have been seized in the central province of Uruzgan, an official said on Wednesday.
The drugs included 284 kg of opium and 38 kg of hashish which were seized on Tuesday as a result of a raid on a house in Dehrawood district, counternarcotics department head, Noorullah Hotak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The operation was conducted by police on the basis of intelligence reports, he said.
Two people were also detained in connection with the drugs and were handed over to judicial departments for further investigation, he said.
Since March 22, 2011, 1490 kilograms of drugs had been seized and 11 people detained in connection with the drugs.
