Tribal elder wounded, explosives-laden car seized
KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): An ethnic leader was wounded in a roadside bombing in northern Kunduz province, where an explosives-laden car was seized by security forces, officials said on Wednesday.
The early morning explosion occurred in Charkh Aab area on the outskirts of Kunduz City, the provincial capital, police spokesman, Sayed Sarwar Hussaini, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Hajji Malang, the tribal elder, and his friend were walking to the city when came under attack, he said, adding they were evacuated to a nearby hospital.
Elsewhere in the province, an explosives-laden car was recovered in the capital city late on Tuesday, said Maj. Gen. Samiullah Qatra, the provincial police chief.
Two people who wanted to blow the vehicle up in the city managed to flee the scene when police force arrived in the area, he said.
The vehicle carried 15 kilograms of explosives, he said, adding police had launched efforts to trace the militants.
