4 suspects netted for intelligence official’s murder
QALAT (PAN): Four suspected men were arrested on charges of killing an intelligence official in southern Zabul province, officials said on Thursday.
The suspected men, currently under cross-examination, were detained by security forces on Wednesday, Deputy Governor Mohammad Jan Rasulyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) official was killed and three other people, including two policemen, were injured in provincial capital Qalat in a Taliban attack at around 11am on Wednesday.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack, with their spokesman, Qari Yusuf Ahmadi saying the assailant had managed to flee the scene. Two of bodyguards of the official were also killed, Ahmadi alleged.
Rasulyar said further investigations were underway to net the detainees’ associates as well.
