Drinking water supply project completed in Nuristan
JALALABAD (PAN): Nearly 4,500 families of two villages in Paroon city, the capital of eastern Nuristan province, would benefit from a water supply project, which was completed on Thursday, an official said.
Funded by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the project would provide drinking water to Ashtivi and Prounce villages for 12 hours a day, Governor Tamim Nuristani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The water supply has been made through a four kilometres pipe from mountainous areas to residential areas, Nuristani said.
He said the project would be extended to districts with support from the government and donor agencies. The governor earlier residents had to face numerous problems due to a lack of clean drinking water during summer and winter.
The water supply project in Ashtivi village cost more than two million afghanis and about 1.85 millions afghanis in Prounce village, said Eng. Wasiullah, the provincial Rural Rehabilitation Development director.
