7 ANA soldiers killed in Farah ambush
The militants attacked a security convoy late on Sunday in the Haji Habibullah Pump area of Bakwa district on the Farah-Herat highway, Public Health Director Abdul Jabbar Shaiq told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Five dead bodies were brought to Farah Civil Hospital.
Two bodies were taken to Dilaram district in the neighbouring Nimroz province, a police officer said on condition of anonymity. He added the rebels had also taken away two ANA pick-up vehicles.
“The insurgents ambushed the convoy heading to the ANA headquarters,” said a witness, Gul Aqa. Afghan soldiers suffered casualties and one of their vehicles was damaged during the 30-minute clash.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, said eight ANA soldiers were killed and their vehicle destroyed in the engagement.
