Fake ghee factory discovered in Ghazni
GHAZNI CITY (PAN): Intelligence operatives have closed a fake ghee factory in the southern province of Ghazni, an official said on Monday.
Animal fat and wax were boiled in huge pots before being packed in 15-kilogram cans at the factory that had produced around 823 cans of ghee.
Journalists were taken to the factory in the Asfandi village on the outskirts of Ghazni City on Sunday, a National Directorate of Security (NDS) official said.
Two employees of the factory are currently under interrogation, according to the NDS source, who indicated the owner would be arrested soon.
A delegation of representatives from NDS, police headquarters, National Environmental Protection Agency and public health department is probing the issue.
The detainees were quoted as saying that the factory did not produce edible ghee, but materials for soap production, a view questioned by NDS agents, who believed the product was used to adulterate ghee.
