ASADABAD (PANinfo-icon): More than 115 militants have been killed in operations involving ISAFinfo-icon and Afghan troops over the past ten days in eastern Kunar province, officials said on Monday.

Starting October 7, the operations were carried out in Narai, Ghaziabad and Asmar districts, where the militants had established check posts, the 201st Selab Military Corps spokesman for eastern provinces, Maj. Shireen Agha, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A number of militants were injured and arms and ammunition recovered from their possession, he said.

The ISAF media office in the east confirmed the operations and the causalities suffered by the insurgents.

A Talibaninfo-icon shadow district chief was killed along with two of his associates in Narai district on Sunday night, Brig. Gen. Hiwaz Muhammad Naziri, the provincial police chief, said.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, claimed the fighters killed two foreign soldiers and injured scores of others during clashes in Narai district. He said the fighters also suffered causalities during the 10 days of the operations.
