Doctors go on strike in GhorBy Hakimi Oct 18, 2011 - 19:12
CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): Ghor Civil Hospital doctors on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against what they called the humiliation of one of their colleagues by police.
A majority of doctors took part in the protest. The demonstrators marched from the hospital toward the governor's office.
Acting director of the hospital, Dr. Abdul Wali Hasanzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News the doctor had one of his arms broken when three policemen attacked. The doctor was humiliated on behalf of a patient, Hasanzai alleged.
He added they had shared the issue with police officials, but no action had so far been taken against the three policemen. He warned they would not return to work until the policemen were punished.
Acting Governor Haji Ghulam Mohammad promised an investigation into the incident.
