Wahidi shares evidence of attacks with high officials

ASADABAD (PANinfo-icon): The governor of eastern Kunar province shared evidence of Pakistaninfo-icon's incursions with a high-ranking official delegation from Kabulinfo-icon, officials said on Saturday.

The delegation included senior Afghan officials and International Security Assistance Force commander in Afghanistaninfo-icon, Gen. John Allen.

Defence Minister Gen. Abdur Rahim Wardak, Interior Minister Bismillah Khan Muhammadi, National Directorate of Intelligence (NDSinfo-icon) chief, Rahmatullah Nabil, and head of the Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon Defence Commission, Shukriya Barakzai, visited the province.

After a series of meetings with local authorities, Gen. Allen told a press conference that their visit was aimed at observing borders and assessing the situation there.  "The issue of Pakistan's attacks into Kunar is very important to us. We have come here for that purpose."

Wardak said they took an aerial view of the border region. He added if the situation remained unchanged, the Afghan government would have no option but to take action.

Governor Wahidi said he had shared information with the visiting officials regarding the Pakistani attacks that killed and injured a number of people and caused damage to property.

He asked the defence and interior ministries, as well as the NATOinfo-icon-led force, to deploy troops to the border areas where militants launched attacks.
