The delegation included senior Afghan officials and International Security Assistance Force commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen.
Defence Minister Gen. Abdur Rahim Wardak, Interior Minister Bismillah Khan Muhammadi, National Directorate of Intelligence (NDS Defence Commission, Shukriya Barakzai, visited the province.
After a series of meetings with local authorities, Gen. Allen told a press conference that their visit was aimed at observing borders and assessing the situation there. “The issue of Pakistan’s attacks into Kunar is very important to us. We have come here for that purpose.”
Wardak said they took an aerial view of the border region. He added if the situation remained unchanged, the Afghan government would have no option but to take action.
Governor Wahidi said he had shared information with the visiting officials regarding the Pakistani attacks that killed and injured a number of people and caused damage to property.
He asked the defence and interior ministries, as well as the NATO-led force, to deploy troops to the border areas where militants launched attacks.
