ZARANJ (PAN): A newly-constructed sports stadium was inaugurated in southwestern city of Zaranj on Tuesday, but a number of footballers called the facility incomplete.
Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the project cost $ 230,000 (10,911,200 afghanis), said Mohammad Nasir Hussaini, the sports director.
Having different facilities and stands for 3,000 spectators, Hussaini said the stadium was built over an acre of land in the fifth police district of Zaranj, the provincial capital.
A football player, Mohammad Asif, said the construction work had not been completed so far. He added the stadium's main ground was dusty and uneven, creating problems for sportspeople.
Another footballer, Rahim, urged financiers to review the construction work. He said the officials concerned should find a solution to the problem of dust.
