Security and CrimeDrugs torched in Zabul
By Nasim Hotak Oct 26, 2011 - 15:30QALAT (PAN): Almost 3,000 kilogram of drugs and hundreds of alcohol bottles were burnt in Qalat, the capital of southern Zabul province, on Wednesday.
The drugs included heroin, opium, hashish and wine, provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the drugs were seized by police and other law-enforcement agencies during current year in 44 different operations across the province.
According to the police chief, 56 smugglers were also detained by police. The accursed are currently were being tried by different courts, he said.
