ZARANJ (PAN): Foreign soldiers detained a prayer leader along with his son in the Khashroad district of southwestern Nimroz province, officials said on Wednesday.

International Security Assistance Force troops conducted the operation in the Kochni Razi area late on Tuesday night, the district chief said.

Mohammad Hasham told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees were loyal to the Taliban fighters.

Col. Mohammad Musa, the deputy police chief, confirmed the operation, saying it was unclear who the detainees.

But Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, said the prayer leader had no contact with the rebel movement.
