KABUL, lower house of Parliament, for grabbing their land in the Bagrami district.

Nearly 100 people staged a peaceful demonstration in front of the Wolesi Jirga, blaming MP Allah Gul Mujahid for seizing 100 acres of their land in the Shanan Qala area of the district.

They had lodged a complaint with the departments, but no one listened to them because Mujahid had a private armed group, one of the demonstrators, Nawroz, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

They had also moved the assembly’s Complaints Commission, where Mujahid is a member, he said, regretting the issue was yet to be addressed.

If no one paid attention to their problem, they would take steps to retake their land from the parliamentarian, and the government would be held responsible for the consequences, he warned.

“The Ahmadzai tribe has challenged the government. He is a wicked man; we will soon put him on the right path,” Nawroz said.

Another protestor, Mahmud, said the tribe would not rest until it got back the land seized by Mujahid.

Mohammad Akbar Stanikzai, a member of the Complaints Commission, told the protestors that they should come to the Wolesi Jirga next Tuesday along with proofs against the legislator. Their claim would be investigated by the commission, he promised.

But Mujahid denied involvement in seizing public land grabbing, saying he was a resident of Deh Sabz district, while the land was located in Bagrami. It was a conspiracy hatched by political rivals against him, the lawmaker insisted.
