Explosives recovered from ISAF supply truckBy Abdul Mueed Hashami Nov 4, 2011 - 14:37
JALALABAD (PAN): Border police have seized a huge amount of explosives from a truck carrying logistics supplies for International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Friday.
The explosives included 60 jerry cans filled with the banned fertilizer, ammonium nitrate, acid and other materials used in making bombs, a border police commander told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel said the explosives were recovered during a search at the Torkham border crossing. The driver had escaped before the truck being searched.
Amarkhel added they had asked the multinational soldiers for help to precisely defuse the explosives.
Idrees Momand, the 1st zone border police spokesman, said the truck carried logistic goods from Pakistan.
