MEHTARLAM (PAN): Two people were injured when a bomb planted in a cart went off in Mehtarlam city, the capital of eastern Laghman province, on Sunday, police said.

The blast took place around 7am, injuring two people, deputy police chief Col. Daud Barakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The injured, indentified as Naqeebullah, 25, and Sarwar, 30, were rushed to a nearby hospital, he said.

Public Health Director Dr. Abdul Latif Qayumi, said the injured were in stable condition.

There was no claim of responsibility for the blast, which came hours before a suicide attack in a mosque in northern Baghlan province killed six people, including a police commander.
