KABUL) on Sunday distributed 25,000 kilograms of meat to thousands of poor families coming from across central Maidan Wardak province, an official said.
About 5,000 families were given the meat on the occasion of Eidul Azha by a delegation appointed by the PRT, the governor’s spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The families hailed from Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital, and eight districts of the province, he said.
The families were identified by tribal elders and the meat was distributed in line with a list prepared in this regard. Each family received five kilograms of meat.
Governor Mohammad Haleem Fidae said the meat was part of Turkey’s assistances to the people of the province. He said Turkey has been providing such assistances over the past many years. The families who received the meant would be able to enjoy the Eid, he said.
Quoting the PRT chief, Muzaffar, Shahid said the cost of the meant had been provided by Turkey’s Hajj and Islamic Affairs Ministry.
Qadir, a beneficiary of the aid, said he was unable to scarifice an animal to celebrate the festival.
A Syedabad district resident Tahir said it was the third consecutive year, they received the meat from Turkey.
