FARAH CITY (PAN commander was killed during an operation by Afghan and international troops in the western province of Farah, officials said on Friday.

Identified as Abdul Nasir, the commander was killed during the search operation in Jejee village of Khak-i-Safed district two days back, deputy police chief, Mohammad Ghaus Malyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

An ISAF military vehicle was damaged during the operation, he said, adding two Kalashnikovs, a walkie-talkie, a remote-controlled bomb and four jerry cans filled with explosives were seized.

A resident of the area, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the slain man was a former jihadi commander and he had no links with the Taliban.
