KABUL, the nation could itself resolve the current crises through the enforcement of Islamic laws.

In a statement, the Taliban called the presence of international soldiers the main factor behind the violence in the country.

“If these troops withdraw for the sake of an end to the problems, there are many ways to address the situation in a free land with unity,” the statement said.

It said foreign troops wanted to have a permanent stay in the country under the name of a strategic partnership agreement.

The statement said if the agreement was signed, it would grant American soldiers an all-out freedom to stay in Afghanistan as long as they desire.

“The crises in the country can only end if the nation refused efforts underway for the strategic agreement with the US,” the statement said.

The Loya Jirga is scheduled to take place on Wednesday to discuss the agreement and a mechanism for peace talks with the Taliban.

The Loya Jirga preparatory commission has said the grand assembly would discuss peace, stability and the proposed Afghanistan-US strategic partnership.

Helaluddin Helal, a member of the preparatory commission, said neighbouring countries might be behind the opposition to the traditional Loya Jirga.

“There is no doubt that regional countries are interfering for their own interests. They are supporting some opponents to disrupt the assembly,” he said.
