Four militants wearing police uniform killed in Helmand
The insurgents wanted to ambush government officials in Pach village of Sangin district when they were attacked by US Marines, the district chief, Mohammad Sharif Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
When contacted, a Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi expressed unawareness about the incident. However, he claimed several foreign soldiers were killed in a roadside bombing in the same district.
Elsewhere, an Afghan policeman and two civilians were killed and another 17 civilians wounded in a roadside bombing in Ghurmach district of Faryab province, the Ministry of Interior said.
The blast occurred at about 11:00am on Tuesday, the ministry said in a statement.
The wounded civilians were taken to a nearby health facility and an investigation to arrest the perpetrators has been launched, it said.
Meanwhile, a separate similar explosion wounded a commander of a private security company, his wife and two children in Qarabagh district of Kabul province, an official said.
The commander Shamili was travelling in a car with his family toward Kabul when explosives placed in his car went off, the district police chief, Abdul Mobin, said. Initial probe into the incident suggested personal enmity, he said.
The interior ministry also confirmed the incident.
A roadside blast in Dangam district of eastern Kunar province left two workers of a road construction company injured, district police chief, Brig. Gen. Aiwaz Mohammad Nazir, said.
A doctor at the provincial civil hospital, Dr. Farooq Sahak, confirmed receiving two wounded people at the hospital.
