KABUL beginning Wednesday.

In a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Karzai said Afghans wanted to see the security transition process completed in 2014, when local forces will maintain security for the entire country.

A statement issued by the Presidential Palace said President Karzai also briefed Cameron on a strategic partnership deal with the US. He said elders of the nation would discuss a significant pact with the US.

He said Afghanistan on the condition that the country’s national sovereignty would be protected and peace strengthened.

Karzai and Cameron also discussed the upcoming second Bonn conference scheduled for December 5. The two leaders conferred on a strategic pact, agreeing that such a pact would be in the interest of the two nations.

The British premier once again assured Karzai that his country would continue to support Afghanistan beyond 2014, when all foreign troops would withdraw, the statement said.
