ASADABAD (PAN): A newly-constructed building for a girls' secondary school was inaugurated in the Sarkani district of eastern Kunar province on Tuesday, an official said.
The building has 16 classrooms and administrative offices, a solar energy system, drinking water, boundary walls and other facilities, Abdul Qahar Akhunzada, the deputy education director, told Pajhwok Afghan News at the inauguration ceremony.
Funded by the American Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), the project cost $240,000 (11,582,400 afs), he said.
The district has 30 schools, with half of them having buildings and the rest without buildings.
Construction work on four buildings for schools is underway in the district, according to Akhunzada.
