CHARIKAR (PAN): Members of the race team were picked on Monday when a 10-kilometre sprint got under way in central Parwan province.

The race from Pul-i-Hofyan to the Charikar Sports Stadium featured 30 athletes, Parwan Sport Director Syed Hesamuddin Sadat told Pajhwok Afghan News. 

He said Mohammad Jawad Merzad won the event, with Maroof and Jawad Mirzad clinching second and third positions respectively.

Merzad said: "I exercise regularly and I want to be an outstanding sprinter. I have made good preparations for the competition."
