KABUL in Kabul.
The traditional jirga was held to advise the government on the strategic cooperation pact with the US. During the four-day tribal assembly, Afghan forces put in place tight security arrangements.
In a statement from ISAF, Gen. Allen said: “I commend the sense of duty and the steps taken by the Afghan National Army, police and the Directorate of National Security, who ensured a secure environment for the Loya Jirga in Kabul.”
He said the foolproof security arrangements provided delegates an opportunity to meet and discuss the important issue of strategic partnership between Afghanistan and the US.
He hoped the members of the Afghan security forces, with constant vigilance, would continue to provide the government and the people of Afghanistan with a safe and secure environment.
