AIBAK (PAN): A soldier of the Afghan National Army (ANA) has committed suicide in northern Samangan province, officials said on Thursday.
Mohammad Amin, hailing from the Khair Larghan village, hanged himself on Wednesday night in his house due to a mental problem.
Provincial crime branch chief, Col. Ghulam Mohammad Zalmay, told Pajhwok Afghan News the soldier recently sustained head injuries as a result of roadside bombing in southern Helmand province.
He was discharged from hospital after treatment and was advised to rest at home, the official quoted the victim's relatives as saying.
Amin suffered injuries in a roadside bombing 40 days ago and mental condition was not stable, said his brother, Mohammad Ishaq.
"Last evening, Amin told his mother that he was going to the mosque, but he went to a garden and hanged himself there,” he said.
