KABUL): Six militants were arrested by police over the past 24 hours in Uruzgan, Logar and Khost provinces, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Friday.
Four of the suspects were detained in Logar and Khost provinces, where police recovered a rocket, three Kalashnikovs, 133 walkie-talkies, 125 landmines and 30 kilograms of explosives.
Two militants were held in the Sarab area of Chora district in Uruzgan province, said a spokesman for the provincial police headquarters, Farid Ayel. Twenty 20 mines and 30 remote-controllers were seized.
In central Maidan Wardak province, Taliban killed one private security guard and injured four others during an attack in Jalrez district on Thursday evening.
The attack was carried out in the Mullahkhel area of the district, said the governor’s spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid. One vehicle of the firm was destroyed in the incident.
Confirming the assault, resident Haseebullah said the incident triggered an hour-long clash. As a result, the main district road remained closed, he added.
