SHARAN (PAN): A newly-constructed building for the Department of Justice was inaugurated in southeastern Paktika province on Tuesday, an official said.
Governor Mohibullah Samim and United States Ambassador to Afghanistan Ryan Crocker also attended the inaugural ceremony in Sharan, the provincial capital.
The governor called the building a symbol of the international community's commitment to the people of Paktika. Samim said work on similar buildings was underway across the country.
He urged Afghans to realise their responsibility of cooperating with efforts at the development of the country with the international community's help.
Crocker thanked provincial officials for spending $150 million US assistance on key projects in Paktika. The envoy said his visit was aimed at identifying the strategic importance of the province.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of Justice Mohammad Hakim Kunari called for the construction of a new building for the central prison.
