KABUL (PAN): Afghan cueists outplayed their Russian, Austrian and German rivals, but tasted defeats at the hands of Australian and Iranian players in the World Snooker Championship matches in Bangalore city of India, an official said on Wednesday.
Placed in group- G, Afghanistan's Saleh Mohammad beat his Russian and Austrian rivals, but was defeated by his Iranian opponent in the event, featuring 87 players from 42 countries around the globe
Another Afghan, Raees Khan Senzai, thrashed his German rival, but was outclassed by an Australian, said Afghanistan Olympic Committee spokesman, Mujibur Rahman Rahmani.
Senzai had earlier defeated his English and Pakistani rivals in group-M matches, obtaining first position in the group. Mohammad had thrashed his Indian opponent.
