    New school building, library open

    LASHKARGAH/ KHOST CITY (PAN): A school building was constructed in southern Helmand province, while a library was inaugurated in southeastern Khost, officials said on Thursday.The school in the Naqilabad area of Nad Ali district has six classrooms, a bookstore and other facilities, the governor's house said.Funded by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the structure cost 2.8 million afghanis and took six months to complete. Local officials and tribal elders attended the inaugural ceremony.Separately, a library at the Agriculture Faculty of Sheikh Zayed University was established at a cost of $21,000, provided by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi said: "I'm thankful to UNANA for this valuable assistance. I urge it and international donor agencies to provide more assistance to the university."More than 300 different kinds of books are available at the library, for which the UN mission provided furniture, Chancellor Associate Prof Gul Hasan Walizai said.A third-year student of the faculty, Zainullah, happy over the establishment of the library, said it would be useful for them to study different informative books.myn/ma/mud
