District chief survives bomb blast in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (PAN‘s lawless tribal region of Khyber, officials said.

Haji Hamish Gul, Dur Baba district’s administrative head, came under bomb attack in the Ghanikhel district at 11am, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said.

Although the district head survived the explosion, his brother was wounded and his car damaged, the gubernatorial spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News. 

After the incident, Hamish Gul told this news agency over the telephone his vehicle struck the roadside bomb while returning from the Ghanikhel bazaar. The incident happened close to his residence.

“A brother of mine, also my security guard, has been wounded. He is receiving medical care at the district hospital,” Gul said, adding his brother was in stable condition.
