QALA-I-NAW (PAN have been provided with work opportunities in northwestern Badghis province, an official said on Friday.

Six social welfare organisations would give them training in carpet weaving, tailoring jackets and sauce production, said Monisa, an official at the women’s affairs department. She told Pajhwok Afghan News the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) would give each woman 5,000 afghanis ($103.691) in monthly salary.

She said the women would work under the supervision of teachers, each of whom would be paid $150 (7,233.00 afghanis) a month.

One of the beneficiaries, Aisha, said: “My husband was killed in the war. I have to look after three sons.” She previously washed people’s clothes to eke out a living, the woman added.
