PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): Seven Pakistani engineers were freed on Monday after four-day captivity in central Logar province, an official said on Monday.
The engineers working on building a 300-bed Naib Aminullah Khan Logari Hospital were kidnapped in the Syed Habibullah village late on Wednesday evening while returning from the site to the Pul-i-Alam city.
The men were freed in the Ona-i-Sufla area on the outskirts of Pul-i-Alam, provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Deputy police chief, Col. Mohammad Jan Abid, said the engineers were kept in the Baboos area on the outskirts of Pul-i-Alam.
An investigation has been launched into the incident to identify the motive behind their abduction and subsequent release, he concluded.
