ISLAMABAD (PAN‘s port city and commercial hub of Karachi on Friday, officials said.

The early morning explosion happened in the Gulistan-i-Jauhar neighbourhood, from where the casualties were taken to the Combined Military Hospital in the Malir area.

A spokesman for the Sindh home department said the bomb targeted a Ranger vehicle, killing three soldiers and wounding four others. Sharfuddin Memon added the explosive device had been buried on the roadside.

A private TV channel, Geo News, identified the dead as Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Ibrahim and Ijaz Ahmed. Azam, Mohammad Aslam, Altaf and Fazil Javed were injured.

Interior Minister Rahman Malik directed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials to visit the spot for a forensic analysis. He also ordered Rangers and police to enhance patrols.
