KABUL): At least 30 insurgents were detained and weapons and ammunitions seized during joint operations in different provinces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Sunday.
The operations were conducted by Afghan and NATO-led International Security Assistance Force troops in Kandahar, Helmand, Nangarhar, Khost, Logar, Zabul and Farah provinces.
A statement from MoD said seven AK-47 assault rifles, three walkie-talkies, one machine gun, a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), two fake passports, a movie camera and a cheque for 109,500 Pakistani rupees were seized.
The troops also recovered $505 and 92,000 Afghanis and an Afghan National Army (ANA) uniform. Additionally, 32 bombs and 17 kilograms of explosives were seized in Kandahar and Zabul provinces.
