CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): A newly-constructed sports stadium and a Gymnasium were inaugurated in western Ghor province on Thursday, an official said.
The Japanese-funded projects cost $464,000 (22,624,600 afghanis), provincial sports director Amir Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The stadium was constructed over an eight-acre of land and the Gymnasium over one acre, he said.
The stadium has a 60-meter high and 14 meter wide gallery, two halls, four rooms and six bathrooms. The Gymnasium has a hall, two rooms and a bathroom, the official said.
He said the stadium's lawn would be constructed until spring by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Football player Fazal Ahmad said previously they had no access to such sport place. He said players would be able to play different games in the stadium.
Another athlete Nasima complained no proper place previously for females had been considered in the province. She said sports loving females played various games at the Sultan Razia High School.
