Afghans win 6 medals in taekwondo contests
By Syed Hadi Kazimi Dec 17, 2011 - 16:28KABUL CITY (PAN): An Afghan taekwondo team grabbed six medals in an international event held in the north-western city of Amman, the Jordan's capital, an official said on Saturday.
Played at the Khalifa International Stadium, the Afghans secured two gold, two silver and as many bronze medals during the games that featured 19 countries, Afghanistan Taekwondo Federation head, Zia-ul-Haq, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Naveed Omari and Nimatullah won the gold in the 55 and 50 kg categories respectively.
While Tamim Omari received the silver in the 60 kg category and Sami Hamdard the bronze in the 45 kg category, he said.
Among the juniors, Mustafa and Yama Najrabi obtained silver and bronze, he added.
