MAIDAN CITY (PAN): As many as 225 displaced families were provided aid for winter in central Maidan Wardak province, the governor’s office said on Saturday.

The aid was provided by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) on Friday, the governor’s house said in a statement.

Governor Muhammad Haleem Fidai, officials of Refugees and Repatriation Department and UNHCR representatives were present at the distribution ceremony, the statement said.

The statement quoted the refugees department director, Muhammad Shafique, as saying that each family were given an amount of coal, four blankets, two sheets, jackets and socks, etc.

Muhammadullah, who recently returned from Pakistan, said he was happy with the assistance, which would somehow help him solve his winter problems.

He demanded the aid agencies should help them more until the winter ends.
