Militant killed after attacking bank
KHOST CITY (PAN): A militant was shot and killed by police after he attacked a private bank building in the southeastern province of Khost on Wednesday, an official said.
The attacker opened fire at security guards manning the gate of the Kabul Bank's branch in Khost city at around 10:20am before he was shot and killed by police, said Col. Ziarat Gul, the police spokesman.
The police, the bank employees and civilians suffered no casualties in the crossfire, he added.
The assailant wanted to launch his attack on the police headquarters from the bank building, but he could not succeed, Gul added.
“We had a prior intelligence report that a group of militants had entered the city. The police were ready for immediate response. We have launched an investigation to arrest the other fighters,” he said.
