US supports free Afghan media

KABUL): The United States has decided to withdraw its personnel from the Afghan Government Media Information Centre, the US embassy said on Wednesday.

“We have been planning to transition US personnel and assistance, and that process has begun,” a statement from the embassy said.

While reassessing its relationship with the information centre, the embassy said the US want to ensure that its support and resources were used efficiently and effectively.  

It added the US continued to support a free and open media in Afghanistan.
