KABUL) spokesman on Sunday said a would-be suicide attacker was among three militants detained in capital Kabul.
The three wanted attack border police in eastern Nangarhar province when they were arrested in Char Asyab district of Kabul, Lotfullah Mashal told a press conference in Kabul.
He said the detainees had confessed to their intention of launching an attack on border police officers in Pachir Agam district of Nangarhar.
The detainees were identified as Mahsil Khan Khazan, Qari Naeem, residents of Nangarhar, and Sardar Khan, a resident of Batkhak district of Kabul.
Mashal said the attack had been planned by a Taliban.
The NDS official also said they had arrested two people with 1,890 kilograms of explosives.
The explosives were seized in the vicinity of eighth police district of Kabul, he said.
He said explosives included 150 suicide vests and 12 car bombs. The seizure prevented a huge terrorist attack that could claim the lives of many people, the official said.
In western Herat province, two people were also arrested on charges of having links with the anti-government fighters, Mashal said, adding the arrests were made in Shindand district.
