Bomber killed in failed attack on police building
JALALABAD (PAN): A suicide attacker detonated his explosives-filled vest before reaching his target in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Monday.
The explosion took place at around 9:30am in the Paindakhel area of Behsud district, Niamatullah Noorzai, administrative head of the town, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The target was a newly-constructed building for police near the Qasamabad area, but the bomber could not succeed to destroy the building, he said. Only the bomber was killed and a child on his way to school was wounded.
Dr. Baz Mohammad Sherzad, head of Jalalabad Civil Hospital, confirmed receiving an injured child, saying the kid was in a stable condition.
Nasrullah, an area resident, said he was at home when he heard a powerful explosion. "I saw a dead body and an injured child at the scene. The injured was taken to hospital by residents," he said.
