KABUL): Eight insurgents were killed and 16 others detained during joint operations in several provinces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Wednesday.
The operations were conducted by Afghan and NATO) troops in Paktia, Kunar, Baghlan, Khost, Zabul, Helmand, Laghman and Kandahar provinces, the ministry said in a statement.
It said eight rebels were killed and 16 others detained with weapons during a string of separate operations.
Two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and a third injured during the period in Paktika, Kunar and Zabul provinces, the ministry said.
