MEHTARLAM (PAN-Jalalabad highway remained stranded for five hours after heavy snowfall blocked the road in the Sarobi district of central Kabul province, commuters and officials said on Friday.
The snow and ice brought the movement of hundreds of vehicles to a halt in the Naghlu area, Saiullah, a passenger, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the heavy snow had blocked the highway from Sarobi to Mahipar at several locations. Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded for hours on both ends in Sarobi, he added.
The Sarobi police chief, Col. Ahmadullah, said the highway remained blocked from 9am until 2pm. He said the road has been reopened by police and army personnel, but the problem remained due to a large number of vehicles.
