JALALABAD (PAN): The overnight snowfall has blocked roads connecting two districts with Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.
Residents of Hesarak and Sherzad districts are facing problems as a result of the road blockades due to heavy snowfall in Ab-i-Zangiani, Mansoor, Cheena, Jogan, Khwakhizi, Tomni and Mani villages.
Abdul Khaliq Maroof, the Hesarak district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News nomads in the snow-hit area had lost livestock. The snow in some areas measured up to 100 centimetres, the official said.
Sherzad district head, Mirza Mohammad Nasrat, said the many areas had received half a metre of snow. In Toto, Khani and Sro villages, the snowfall was more than a metre, stranding passenger vehicle.

Governor Gul Agha Sherzai had urged the Red Crescent and other organisations to provide relief to residents of both districts, his spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said.
