FARAH CITY (PAN): Seven Taliban insurgents and two security guards with foreign troops were killed during a clash in western Farah province on Monday, an official said.
The clash erupted after a group of militants attacked a convoy of vehicles carrying supplies for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Dilaram district, police said.
The convoy came under attack on its way to the provincial capital, the provincial deputy police chief, Col. Mohammad Ghaus Malyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In the ensuing gunbattle, seven attackers and two security guards escorting the convoy were killed, he said, adding another two guards were injured.
Naqibullah Farahi, the governor's spokesman, confirmed the incident, saying the battle happened in the Khormalol area.
