JALALABAD (PAN): The United Nations and the Department of Refugees on Monday distributed winter assistance to about 400 poor families in the Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Monday.
The families living in Maqur and Khalis, previously surveyed by UNHCR and the department, were provided assistance, Director of Refugees Ghulam Haidar Faqirzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said each household received a bag of wheat, five blankets, two gas cylinders, five warm sheets, two tarpaulins and six warm suits. The director promised the aid distribution process would be extended to other districts.
Administrative head of Behsud, Naimatullah Noorzai, said the assistance was extended to the families which returned from abroad this year. He added relevant departments had been asked for assisting flood-hit residents.
