Jan 10, 2012 - 19:13

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Kandahar Governor Tooryalai Wesa on Tuesday launched the process of distributing land plots to teachers under a residential scheme in the southern province.

The process was launched in Arghandab district during a ceremony attended by hundreds of teachers and students.

Wesa said they had a total of 4,500 plots for 3,800 teachers across the province.

The ceremony was also attended by education director Najibullah Mujaddedi and Arghandab district chief, Haji Shah Mohammad Ahmadi.

The governor told Pajhwok Afghan News that teachers in Arghandab were given plots at a government-land in Daman and Arghandab districts.

He said teachers were future-builders of the nation and they needed special attention from the government.

Happy over initiating the plot distribution process, Wesa said the government had always tried to provide a better education environment to students and remove hurdles threatening the education system.

He also asked teachers to spare no effort in educating new generation.
