QALAT (PAN): Three polio cases were registered over the past 10 months in southern Zabul province, health official said on Sunday.
Of the 22 polio cases reported to the main provincial capital, three were found positive after investigations, the director of public health said.
Dr. Lal Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News the three children, including one from a nomadic Kuchi family, had not been administered any anti-polio vaccine.
Calling polio an infectious disease that effected children under five, he said the only preventive measure was the administration of anti-polio vaccine.
"A three-day winter vaccination drive against polio has been launched in Zabul; it will cover Qalat, the provincial capital, and all districts," he said.
