MAMUD RAQI (PAN): A Taliban commander was killed during a clash with police in the Tagab district of central Kapisa province, officials said on Sunday.
The insurgent commander was killed during the encounter in the Tatarkhel area late on Saturday night, the district police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The victim, known as Mubarez, led a group of more than 20 fighters against Afghan and foreign troops in the district, Haji Shah Agha said.
The police officer added the victim had served a local tribal force, which he quit after shooting two other commanders and joined the Taliban.
Resident Shukrullah confirmed the clash, saying the commander planned and executed attacks in the district. The Taliban also confirmed the commander's death.
