KABUL (PAN): A newly-constructed 20-bed maternity home was inaugurated in the Mirbacha Kot district of central Kabul province on Tuesday, officials said.
Funded by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), the hospital's 20 percent cost was paid by residents, Minister Jarullah Mansoori told journalist at the inaugural ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, acting Public Health Minister Dr. Suraya Dalil said professionals and medical equipment at the hospital had been provided by her ministry.
She added residents of Kalalakan, Farza, Guldara and Shakardara districts would benefit from the facility. There was no such hospital in the district and patients were to visit Kabul for treatment, she added.
"We are pleased with the construction of the hospital and our patients would no longer need to travel to Kabul," said a resident, Mir Ghulam Jilani.
